Our Curriculum

We believe play is how children make sense of the world. At Hart, every day is filled with chances to explore, discover, and grow.

Our days are shaped by:
     🌟 monthly themes
     🎨 hands-on art
     🎵 music
     🕺 movement
     🖐️ sensory activities
     🌳 outdoor play

Monthly themes shape classroom activities—from stories and songs to sensory play and group projects.

Enrichment includes biweekly live music with Minibop, special visits from local heroes and authors, and plenty of outdoor play.

Children are free to get messy, follow their interests, and be themselves—guided by supportive educators every step of the way.

FAQ
  • What are your hours?
We are open Monday–Friday, from 7.45 AM to 6PM. Drop-off is between 7.45–9.30 AM. Pickup is between 2.30–6.00 PM.
  • What ages do you serve?
We welcome children from 18 months to 5 years old. Our three classrooms are divided by age: Toddlers: 18 months–2.5 years Preschool: 2.5–3.5 years Pre-K: 3.5–5 years
  • Are you open year-round?
Yes, we are a year-round program. We close for a winter break, spring break, and one week in July for professional development.
  • Do you serve meals?
We provide morning and afternoon snacks. Parents pack lunches. For our Toddler and Preschool classes, we’re happy to refrigerate and warm up lunches as needed.
  • Do children need to be potty trained?
Potty training is not required for the Toddler and Preschool classrooms (ages 18 months–3.5 years). Children in the Pre-K classroom (ages 3.5–5 years) must be out of diapers. We're happy to support potty training when your child is ready — and we never charge extra fees for diapering.
  • What is your general philosophy?
We use monthly themes to guide our activities, including play, art, music, and movement. But we also follow the children’s interests wherever they lead us. Sensory exploration and creativity are central to our program—so yes, children may come home a little messy!
  • Do you offer enrichment activities?
Yes! We partner with Minibop Music for weekly enrichment and invite special visitors whenever possible, including firefighters, local musicians, authors, public transit educators, and librarians.
  • What is your approach to discipline?
We approach discipline in two ways: talking through challenging moments, and redirection when appropriate. Teachers help children name their feelings, talk through conflicts, and find solutions together. We also offer a quiet space when children need a moment to cool off or reset.
